Presenter: The Art of Miniature

Participants will be introduced to the versatility of using and making miniatures in the classroom through printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture. One resource that will be explored is The Open Press Project (https://openpressproject.com). Here, they can get free files to 3D print a miniature, working etching press, perfect for art rooms without access to a press. Participants will have the opportunity to create a small print and print it on one of these 3D printed presses. Participants will have the opportunity to try their hand at throwing miniature pottery on miniature pottery wheels. Miniature pottery wheels are a great addition to High School ceramics programs where their small size allows for easy clean up and fast production of tiny vessels. (Plus tiny is trending on social media!) Finally, participants can try their hand at making tiny food using air dry clay as a great way to introduce scale to their students.
