Steampunk Princess Leia and Lady Vader
2015
These costumes were created for the Steampunk World's Fair and took First Place in the Pop Culture Division of the costume contest. I made Leia's kimono using bridal satin and a traditional child's kimono pattern. Her obi was vintage and I made her obi-jime with metallic paper and silver buttons in the style of Princess Leia's belt. Lady Vader's skirt was made using a Victorian 4-Gore pattern and black satin. I made the breather by cutting apart a Darth Vader mask and adding filigree accents, fabric paint "rivets", padding and straps. The necklace has red LEDs which were added by threading conductive thread through the existing bead work. The LEDs are powered by two button batteries located in the back of the necklace.
