Charlie was a huge group project that spanned three summers. Around one hundred different campers and staff worked on Charlie in that time. Charlie has a wooden skeleton and expandable foam body. The foam was then carved into a horse shape and two layers of fiberglass added. Thousands of glass mirror tiles were adhered to Charlie like a mosaic. To compensate for the added weight, a metal pipe was added to the front for support. Once the mane and tail were added, Charlie was sent to the pasture to live with the camp's horses.
