Egyptian Amulets
5th Grade
2019
This project was an extension for students as they finished their main Egyptian artwork. We began by talking briefly about Egyptian amulets and their purpose. The students then chose one of the amulet designs from the plaster mold and pressed DAS clay into the mold. Next, they trimmed the wet clay and placed their amulet on a paper with their name. Once the amulets were dry, they were spray painted a bright gold. The students then added color to the amulet with their choice of metallic markers and gems. They could then leave their amulet "as is" or string beads and make their amulet into a necklace.
